In addition to his work as a Cinematographer, Matthew has served regularly as a Stereographer and on set Stereo Supervisor. From underwater documentaries, to live events, to some of the largest Hollywood productions ever to shoot native 3D, Matthew led the stereo camera teams to design, prep, shoot, and post visually stunning, immersive films. As a staff Stereographer at Sony Pictures Studios, he consulted on 3D studio projects, assisted with the launch of the 3Net television network, contributed to product design, and taught the ICG and DGA 3D seminars at the Sony 3D Technology Center. In 2012, he was elected to the Board of Governors of the International 3D Society (now the Advanced Imaging Society – www.theadvancedimagingsociety.com/). In 2013 he began lecturing at the University of Texas at Austin in 3D cinematography. In 2014, he co-founded the advanced imaging firm Digital Quilt (www.digitalquiltvr.com) which creates stereo 360, photogrammetry, game engine integration, and motion capture experiences.
